White House Responds To Jay-Z's 'Open Letter' Over Cuba Trip
"Boy from the hood but got White House clearance," he rapped. "Obama said chill, you gonna get me impeached. You don't need this sh*t anyway, chill with me on the beach." But White House press secretary Jay Carney denies Obama had anything to do with Jay-Z's trip to Cuba. "I guess nothing rhymes with 'Treasury,'" laughed Carney. "Because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel as you know, and the White House has nothing to do with it." Asked to clarify further by reporters, he replied: "I am absolutely saying that the White House, from the president on down, had nothing to do with anybody's travel to Cuba." "That is something the Treasury handles. OFAC, Treasury, these are tough words to rhyme. It's a song," he continued, "the president did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip." Jay-Z, who has been an Obama supporter since his candidacy, participated in the President's re-election campaign. The White House is responding to questions after Jay-Z released a track titled 'Open Letter' and bragged about getting clearance from the top for his Cuba trip with wife Beyonce.
