Taylor Swift Wins Groping Trial Against DJ David Mueller, Awarded $1

After six days in court, a jury ruled that former radio host David Mueller groped Taylor Swift (photosTaylor Swift photos) at a meet-and-greet photo session at the Pepsi Center in June 2013.

The eight-member jury was comprised of six women and two men. Swift was awarded a symbolic $1.

During the proceedings, Swift became emotional when Mueller's lawyer turned his attention to the photo taken during the alleged incident.

"Is that the face of someone who’s had someone grab their butt? Who is shocked?," he asked the jury. "There's nothing in Taylor Swift's face to suggest anything is wrong."

The 27-year-old took the stand on Thursday, testifying for an hour against Mueller.

"It was a definite grab, a very long grab," she said. "It was long enough for me to be completely sure it was intentional."

"By returning a verdict on Ms. Swift's counterclaim for a single symbolic dollar, the value of which is immeasurable to all women in this situation... You will tell every woman... that no means no," said Swift's lawyer.

In a statement, the singer said: "I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this."

"My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves."

Mueller originally sued Swift for $3 million in damages, claiming that he lost his job at Denver-based radio station 98.5 KYGO after the incident. It was dismissed on August 11 for insufficient evidence.
