SNL's Amy Poehler To Star In 'Office' Spin-Off

'Saturday Night Live's Amy Poehler is in final talks to star in NBC's spin-off of 'The Office'.

While NBC execs and 'Office' creator Greg Daniels are keeping quiet about the possible casting, we're hearing that it's nearly a done deal. The only actor officially announced so far is comedian Aziz Ansari, but we've all expected a big name to anchor the series ever since the spin-off was confirmed in April.

It's thought that the performance of 'Baby Mama' at the box office convinced NBC execs that Poehler was a bankable star, and negotiations have been ongoing since. If the deal closes, she will join her movie co-star Tina Fey, another SNL alum, as a primetime player on the network.

The as-yet-untitled spin-off will debut post Super Bowl XLIII, in February 2009, following an original episode of 'The Office'.
