Salma Hayek And Father Of Her Daughter Call Off Engagement
"We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled. There will be no further comment," was all Hayek's spokeswoman Cari Ross had to say in a statement. Hayek gave birth to the baby girl named Valentina in September 2007, a few months after the couple announced their engagement. The 45-year-old Pinault is the CEO of the luxury goods company PPR, which owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Puma, and the son of its owner, billionaire François Pinault. No word on whether the couple have completely broken it off or it is a matter of differing philosophy. You may recall, Hayek told 'Glamour's April issue that getting married wasn't a priority for her: "Do I think we are going to get married? Probably. Will it make a difference? I hope not." "You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children — we have all those things." "Some people need the commitment, but maybe we''ll just make the party!"
