Rose McGowan Details Her Alleged Sexual Assault by Harvey Weinstein In New Book
In the book titled 'Brave', McGowan remembers how the former movie mogul assaulted her in 1997 at the Sundance Film Festival. McGowan only refers to Weinstein as "the Monster" in the book, likely to avoid being sued by Weinstein due to their settlement. The actress says she was called up to his suite in Park City, Utah where she thought they were going to have a meeting about her blossoming career. She was 24 at the time. Instead, when she got there, Weinstein pushed her into a room with a jacuzzi and began to take her clothes off. Not knowing what to do, McGowan says she froze "like a statue." McGowan says Weinstein says he sat her on the side of the jacuzzi while he soaked in and began to perform oral sex on her while he pleasured himself. "He moans loudly; through my tears I see his semen floating on top of the bubbles," she writes. McGowan says the people he confided in "counseled me to see it as something that would help my career in the long run." That was made worse because she claims Weinstein called others and told them not to work with the actress. "It seemed like every creep in Hollywood knew about my most vulnerable and violated moment," she writes. "And I was the one who was punished for it." She would eventually reach a settlement with Weinstein for $100,000. The actress had previously accused Weinstein of rape but not provided any further details about the incident. Rose McGowan is finally shedding light on her alleged assault by Harvey Weinstein in a new book.
