Oprah Weighs In After NY Post Calls Her Democrats 'Best Hope' In 2020

Oprah Winfrey is sparking speculation that she may run for President in 2020.

The former talk show host had her fans in a frenzy after retweeting a New York Post op-ed column titled "Democrats' Best Hope for 2020: Oprah."

"Thanks for your VOTE of confidence!," she added to the column's writer, John Podhoretz.

The 63-year-old, a strong supporter of Barack Obama, said in a March interview she had never even thought becoming President was a possibility until the election of Donald Trump.

"I actually never considered the question, even the possibility," she said. "I thought, 'Oh, gee, I don't have the experience, I don't know enough.' And now I’m thinking, 'Oh.'"

Podhoretz wrote in his column that the Democrats need "a grand, outsized fearless star whom Trump can neither intimidate nor outshine."

Oprah is "uniquely positioned, should she wish to commit herself," he said, "to seek the Democratic nomination for president and challenge Trump in 2020."
