'Nashville Star' Winner Is Crowned On Season Finale

On tonight’s season finale of 'Nashville Star', it was down to the final three singers: Melissa, Shawn, and Gabe. Note: Don't read any further if you don't want to know who won.

The season finale began with the original twelve acts that started the competition joining host Billy Ray Cyrus in a performance of his 90s hit single 'Achy Breaky Heart'. The night moved quickly and when it was all set and done Texan Melissa Lawson was crowned the 'Nashville Star' winner.

The 32-year-old mother of five took the prize over fellow Texan classic country singing Gabe Garcia and Iowa's country rock and blues-belter Shawn Mayer in NBC's first season of the talent search hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus. She was the oldest female contestant this season.

The show culminated with Lawson performing her debut single 'What if it All Goes Right', which will debut on country radio stations on Tuesday.

As winner of the show, Lawson won a record contract with Warner Bros. Records, and will also head to the Summer Olympics in Beijing on August 12 to perform live.
