Miss India Manushi Chhillar Crowned Miss World 2017

Miss India Manushi Chhillar has been crowned Miss World 2017.

Miss England Stephanie Hill was the first runner up and Miss Mexico Alma Andrea Meza Carmona was second runner up.

The 20-year-old medical student from Haryana, India received her crown from last year's Miss World winner, Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico.

Manushi was asked which profession she believes deserved the highest salary in the question and answer round.

"I think a mother deserves the highest respect and when you talk about salary it's not always about cash but I feel it's the love and respect that you give to someone," she replied. "My mother has always been the biggest inspiration in my life."

"All mothers sacrifice so much for their kids. So, I think it is the job of a mother that deserves the highest salary."

The win for India comes 17 years after Priyanka Chopra won awarded the honor in 2000. Of course, Chopra has now made the leap to Hollywood with 'Baywatch' and stars in ABC's 'Quantico'.
