Manny Ramirez Dodgers Trade Brings Jason Bay To Boston

Manny Ramirez's time with the Boston Red Sox is over. The slugger has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of a three-way deal on trade deadline day.

The Red Sox will pay the remaining $7 million of Ramirez's contract owed for this season. Outfielder Jason Bay heads to Boston and the Pittsburgh Pirates get four minor leaguers as part of the three-way deal.

Ramirez, 36, was hitting .299 with a team-leading 20 homers and 68 RBIs for Boston, and in the final guaranteed year of an eight-year, $160 million contract. He had been playing for the Red Sox since the 2001 season.

While Bay, a two-time All-Star, was hitting .282 with 22 home runs and 64 RBIs. The Red Sox currently trail the first-place Rays by three games in the AL East.
