Jury Acquits Ohio Man Of Stalking Gwyneth Paltrow For Second Time

A jury has acquitted Dante Soiu of stalking Gwyneth Paltrow (photosGwyneth Paltrow photos) after prosecutors said he sent her dozens of unsolicited letters and gifts in recent years.

It was the second time the 66-year-old Ohio man had been accused of stalking the actress.

He was committed to a mental institution following the first time over a decade ago, after he sent lewd messages and gifts including sex toys to the actress.

He was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Soiu's latest correspondence said "I have a goal: to marry Gwyneth Paltrow and take care of her."

During the trial, he told the court he was a changed man who was writing to Paltrow to ask for her forgiveness.

"I was very lonely," Soiu said. "I wanted to have a pen pal."

"I felt very upset by it," Paltrow said last week of the letters. "It defied logic, and I found it very, very upsetting," Paltrow said. "This was something I had been through a very long and traumatic experience with already."

The jury ultimately decided that while Soiu's messages may be unwelcome, it didn't amount to felony stalking.
