Economists Calculate How Much Oprah's Backing Helped Obama
The two bored economists developed a complex numerical formula to calculate how much impact the talk-show host's public backing of Obama had on the primaries. Taking into consideration Oprah's star power, based on TV ratings, book sales, and voter turnout, they found that Winfrey was able to put a minimum of 1,015,519 votes in the Obama column. Meanwhile, Obama celebrated his 47th birthday on Monday, and when asked about his birthday gift, he asked for a more poll victories as his present. He also served cake to hungry reporters:
