Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum Join 'G.I. Joe' Cast

Dennis Quaid and Channing Tatum have joined the cast of 'G.I. Joe'.

Dennis Quaid will play General Hawk, the team leader and Channing Tatum will play Duke Hauser, the key lead soldier and leader of the G.I. Joe team.

Tatum most recently appeared in 'Step Up' and also auditioned for the role of Gambit in 'X-Men: The Last Stand' before the role was completely written out. While Quaid was last seen in 'American Dreamz'.

The two join Ray Park, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Marlon Wayans, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the live-action adaptation of the cartoon series.

Sam Worthington was originally selected for Tatum's role, but due to filming dates on his current project James Cameron's 'Avatar', which has gone longer than he expected, he had to back out of the movie.

The film currently has a targetted release date of August 7, 2009.
