Charlize Theron Favored To Be Bond Girl

According to various reports circulating in London, Aeon Flux star Charlize Theron (photosCharlize Theron photos) is at the top of the list to be the next Bond girl alongside Daniel Craig in the latest Bond film, Casino Royale.

The Oscar winner has been reportedly offered the role opposite the new 007, Daniel Craig. And word is she has overtaken Angelina Jolie (photosAngelina Jolie photos) as director Martin Campbell's first choice to be the new Bond girl.

Director Campbell and other Sony executives see Theron's acting talents and beauty which helped her win an Oscar in 2004 for 'Monster' as a key ingredient.

If selected, the South African actress would become only the second Osar winning actress to star as a Bond girl. The first actress to do that feat was Halle Berry (photosHalle Berry photos) who appeared in 'Die Another Day' after her Oscar winning performance in 'Monster's Ball'.

As reported, Angelina Jolie was offered the role in 'Casino Royale' earlier but insisted the role is toughened up before she was willing to accept.

"Casino Royale" is based on Ian Fleming's novel of the same name and is due to be released in the October of 2006. The film will be directed by "GoldenEye" director Martin Campbell.

It's expected that the car featured in the film will be the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. And director Campbell revealed that curiously the movie will "only feature one explosion". Despite the back to basics approach, the budget of the movie is expected to be around $100 million. Shooting is supposed to take place in the UK, Czech Republic, Italy, and the Bahamas.
