Casey Kasem, Radio Legend, Voice Of 'Scooby Doo's Shaggy, Dies At 82

Casey Kasem has died at the age of 82.

The legendary radio star and voice actor passed away days after a judge allowed his daughter to withhold medication, food and fluids from her ailing father.

In the ruling last Wednesday, Superior Court Judge Daniel Murphy said giving the former 'American Top 40' hot food and fluids would be harmful and cause more pain given his condition.

"Early this Father's Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends," Kasem's daughter, Kerri, says in a statement.

"Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad. With love, Kerri, Mike and Julie."

Since October, Kasem's wife Jean has been involved in legal disputes with three children from Kasem's first marriage. She had blocked the children from meeting Kasem until a agreement was recently reached.
