'Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff Joins '24' Cast
Sackhoff has been cast in a series regular role as Dana Walsh, who is described as "a highly respected and down-to-earth data analyst at the new and improved New York branch of CTU." She will reportedly be in a relationship with fellow agent Davis Cole, who will be played by Freddie Prinze Jr, as we reported a couple of weeks ago. Dana will apparently have a shady past she's desperately trying to keep hidden. We already know Prinze's character will be a recently returned Marine who runs CTU's field operations and wants to follow in Jack Bauer's footsteps, which begs the question will Sackhoff be relegated to the CTU offices or will she lend Jack Bauer a hand in the action? As much fun as a catfight with Chloe sounds, we're hoping for a bit of both. And you have to imagine the character will have some feistiness, if Sackhoff's casting is any indication. Meanwhile, Mykelti Williamson has been cast as Brian Hastings, the head of CTU with a razor-sharp intellect, and Chris Diamatopoulos will play President Alison Taylor's new chief-of-staff. Williamson most recently co-starred in the Sundance hit 'Black Dynamite', and has also previously appeared on 'CSI:NY'. Filming on '24's eighth season, which will be set in New York, is already underway and Katee Sackhoff is expected to start filming on Wednesday. 'Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff, who so perfectly played Starbuck for the show's four seasons, has clocked in for '24's upcoming season.
