Arnold Schwarzenegger Puts Acting Career On Hold After Scandal

Amid the fallout of the news that he fathered a child with a staffer while he was married to Maria Shriver, Arnold Schwarzenegger is putting the brakes on his acting career.

"At the request of Arnold Schwarzenegger we asked Creative Artists Agency to inform all his motion picture projects currently underway or being negotiated to stop planning until further notice," says a spokesperson for Schwarzenegger.

"He is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines. This includes Cry Macho, The Terminator franchise and other projects under consideration."

The immediate impact of the decision will be felt most by producers of 'Cry Macho', which was to mark Schwarzenegger's return to acting.

Meanwhile, producers behind his animated series 'The Governator' have also put the project on hold.

"In light of recent events, A Squared Entertainment, POW, Stan Lee Comics and Archie Comics have chosen to not go forward with the Governator project," says a representative, without clarifying whether the project is completely dead or simply postponed.

Although given what they've already put into the series, we would guess it would have to be the latter.

Meanwhile, Shriver has retained prominent Los Angeles divorce attorney Laura Wasser.
