Amy Winehouse 'Died Alone In Bed', Says Publicist
London Ambulance Services said she had been dead for hours before emergency services arrived at the scene. Now her publicist has revealed that the 27-year-old passed away alone in bed. "Amy was on her own at home apart from a security guard who we had appointed to help look after her over the past couple of years," says Chris Goodman. "She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep and when he went to wake her he found she wasn't breathing. He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed." "Everyone who was involved with Amy is shocked and devastated. Our thoughts are with her family and friends." Winehouse had faced a very public battle with drugs and alcohol in recent years as she slipped in and out of rehab. However, police say the cause of her death is being treated as "unexplained." They are rejecting speculation that she died from a drug overdose as "inappropriate." The initial post-mortem failed to established what killed her. Further toxicology tests are needed and the results are expected in two to four weeks. Winehouse shot to fame with the album 'Back to Black', with her blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop. The album won five Grammys and made her one of music's most recognizable stars with her trademark beehive hairdo. In June, she left treatment after one week to begin an European tour. That was called off after just one night following a disastrous showing in Belgrade during which she forgot lyrics and behaved erratically on stage. Amy Winehouse, the singer best known for her hit song 'Rehab', was found dead Saturday in her London home.
