ABC Apologizes For Child's 'Kill Everyone in China' Comment On 'Kimmel'

ABC is apologizing for a 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' segment in which a boy suggested Americans "kill everyone in China" to help erase the US debt.

The comment came during a regular comedy bit called 'Kids Table' in which youngsters comment on news events. They were talking about the debt ceiling and childish politicians in this particular episode.

"Kill everyone in China," a boy named Braxton suggested. Although he realized the idea wouldn't work after Kimmel explained then there wouldn't be anyone left to lend the money to the US.

While unscripted, the comment was notably left in the broadcast by ABC and Jimmy Kimmel.

However, after it was picked up by Chinese media and resulted in a complaint from an Asian-American political group, the network is apologizing for the joke.

"We're writing to offer our sincere apology," ABC says in a letter to the group. "We would never purposefully broadcast anything to upset the Chinese community, Asian community, anyone of Chinese descent or any community at large... our objective is to entertain."

ABC says the segment will be edited before any future airings or distribution, including online.
