Aasif Mandvi Recalls Strange Questions In Audition For Snake Charmer Role
Mandvi says he was asked some strange questions during the audition. "I remember they asked me if I had my own turban. And I sort of said 'You know, look, if you have a turban, you're pretty much wearing it. You don't leave your turban at home,'" he says. "it's either-or!" "And then they said 'Do you actually know how to snake charm?'. This is a real question. I was so desperate because I was a young actor needing the work. So the only thing I could think to say was 'No, I don't but I am Indian so it could be in my DNA and I might just figure it out." 'The Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi tells Seth Meyers what it was like beginning his acting career in New York and a snake charmer role he once auditioned for.
