Zsa Zsa Gabor's Right Leg Amputated

Zsa Zsa Gabor is resting after the amputation of her right leg.

The 93-year-old Gabor, who broke her hip and had replacement surgery in July, had been hospitalized for swelling in her legs and blood clots throughout her body. Doctors decided they had to amputate after a lesion on her leg got infected.

"The surgery today went well, however, she is in frail health so we will continue to monitor her closely," UCLA Medical Center's Dr. David Rigberg told reporters. "Ms. Gabor needed an amputation above her knee due to poor circulation and a large ulcerated area on her right leg,"

The Hungarian-born actress has used a wheelchair since she was partially paralysed after a 2002 car accident and had a stroke in 2005.

She will likely spend up to four weeks in the hospital before she is ready to be sent home.
