Zoe Saldana To Lead NBC's 'Rosemary's Baby' Miniseries

'Avatar' and 'Star Trek' star Zoe Saldana (photosZoe Saldana photos) is set to take on her first major television role as the lead in NBC's 'Rosemary's Baby'.

Saldana will play Rosemary, a young wife who becomes pregnant and suspects her husband and neighbors are planning something strange for the future of her child.

Saldana is taking on the role made famous by Mia Farrow in the 1968 film directed by Roman Polanski based on the best selling novel.

"Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses, and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin's infamous novel," NBC's Quinn Taylor says in a statement.

"With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event mini-series is off to a great start."

And withe the reimagining, NBC will alter the setting of the miniseries from Manhattan's Dakota building to Paris, where Rosemary and her husband live in an "apartment that has a darkly storied past."
