Ryan Lochte Protesters On Why They Rushed 'Dancing' Stage: He 'Embarrassed Americans'

The two protesters who rushed the 'Dancing with the Stars' stage to confront Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte say they had a legitimate reason for their actions.

Sam Satoodeh and Barzeen Soroudi, wearing anti-Lochte T-shirts, were tackled and detained by security until they were arrested by police following Lochte's first live performance.

"Our purpose is to get the message out that Lochte is a coward, a liar and under Brazilian law, a criminal," Satoodeh tells ABC News.

"He embarrassed Americans on the world's stage, and this was our form of protesting against that," adds Soroudi.

Lochte, who is competing on the ballroom dancing show with pro dancer Cheryl Burke (photosCheryl Burke photos), is serving a 10-month suspension by the United States Olympic Committee and USA Swimming.

The swimmer claimed he had been held by a robber at gunpoint when in reality he vandalized a gas station bathroom in Rio during the 2016 Summer Games.
