Teresa Giudice Says She Was 'Shocked' With 15-Month Prison Sentence

Teresa Giudice says her prison sentence for fraud was a "shock" and a "wake up call."

The 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' star was sentenced to 15-month behind bars following a guilty plea while her husband Joe was sentenced to 41 months.

"I was so nervous that I was shaking," Giudice recalls the sentencing on 'Watch What Happens Live'.

"My nerves were pulling. At one point, I couldn't move my fingers. They were stuck. I couldn't open my hands. My nerves were shot. I've had sleepless nights. I, of course, I was shocked. It was very unexpected. I don't even know what to say."

"I was not trying to keep up with the Joneses.. it was a wake up call. I do need to read things, understand things before I sign them."

"I'm a trustworthy person and sometimes I take what other people say. I can't do that anymore."

When host Andy Cohen pressed Teresa on what role she played in the fraud, she replied: "Whatever Joe told me to sign, I signed."

Teresa said her biggest fear about prison was actually out of it: taking care of her daughters. The couple will be serving staggered sentences, with Teresa's beginning in January, followed by her husband.

She said their oldest daughter, Gia, told them not to worry.

"She was being strong for me, I could tell. She was like, ‘Mommy, don't worry about it. I'll be there…I'll help daddy with girls…She was like, ‘That'll make me a better mom, that will prepare me for when I'm a mom.' I was like, ‘Oh my God.' It broke my heart when she said that."

"It's going to be a lot of work, but they are my daughters, and I gotta do what I gotta do," added Joe. "I guess I'll be the housewife."
