Steven Soderbergh Hit With Paternity Suit From Australian Woman

An Australian woman is claiming director Steven Soderbergh is the father of her baby daughter and is suing him for child support.

Frances Lawrencina Anderson's paternity suit says Soderbergh helped pay medical expenses during Anderson's pregnancy, and a DNA test has shown he was the father of the girl she had in August.

"He has acknowledged that he is the father of the child verbally," she adds in the lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday in a state court in Manhattan.

Frances says she and the 'Traffic' director had a sexual relationship at points including December 2009, when his play 'Tot Mom' opened in Sydney.

The lawsuit states they "had sexual intercourse on many occasions covering all possible dates of conception, and as a result thereof, she became pregnant."

Soderbergh has been married to TV personality and novelist Jules Asner, his second wife, since 2003. They were apparently separated when he was in Australia to direct the play.
