Simon Cowell: Rebecca Black's 'Friday' Not Worst Song But 'Brilliant'

Thirteen-year-old Rebecca Black has been all over the news for her song 'Friday', which is being called the worst song ever, but Simon Cowell doesn't think it's all that bad.

In fact, the former 'American Idol' judge says he loves the song, which includes lyrics like "gotta make my mind up, which seat can I take?", "we so excited" and "yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday, tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards", for creating so much uproar.

"Love it!," Cowell says. "I've never seen anything cause so much controversy. I think it's genius. The fact that everyone's getting upset about it is hysterical."

"Any song to do with the weekend annoys you. It reminds me of 'Saturday Night;' do you remember that song by Whigfield? It's what we call a 'hair-dryer song,' a song girls sing into their hair dryers as they're getting ready to go out. But the fact that it's making people so angry is brilliant."

Black says she first cried upon hearing the backlash for her song, but now she doesn't care as long as someone is listening to it: "I felt like this was my fault, and I shouldn't have done this, and this is all because of me. Now I don't feel that way."

"I think I have talent on some level," she says. "I don't think I'm the worst singer but I don't think I'm the best singer. Even if a person doesn't like it, it's going to be stuck in their head."

The song was apparently part of a $2,000 package her mother paid to an L.A.-based vanity production company for aspiring teen singers.
