Showtime To Revive 'Twin Peaks' As New Series

Showtime will take viewers back to 'Twin Peaks' more than two decades after the original aired on ABC.

The cable network has announced that it is bringing back series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost to write and produce a limited run series.

The series will go into production next year for a 2016 air date that will be 25 years to the day after the last episode aired.

Nine episodes have been scheduled so far.

Showtime has said the story will continue where the original left off and will provide "long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion."

The series, which originally aired in 1990 on ABC, will be set in present day.

The original followed the stories the residents of 'Twin Peaks' in the Pacific Northwest after the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer.
