Severed Head In Bag Found Under Iconic Hollywood Sign

Police are searching for a body after hikers found a severed human head in a bag below the iconic Hollywood sign.

It's reported two female hikers were walking their dogs near the Griffith Observatory when they noticed two dogs playing with the bag.

They didn't realize it was a human head until one of them looked closer at the rolling bag.

The Hollywood Hills area is a popular tourist area with its 53-mile network of trails and equestrian paths.

Police, who believe the head had not been in the area for long, conducted a search using cadaver dogs but were unable to find anything during the remaining hours of daylight.

They hope to resume their search today.

The 45-foot-tall Hollywood sign was first created as an advertisement in 1923 for a real estate development, but it was left up and restored after garnering increasing recognition.
