'Sesame Street's Grover Teaches Kids 'Refugees Are Just Like Us'

'Sesame Street's Grover meets with Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken to learn about refugees.

"I'm talking about refugees," says Blinken. "These are people who have had to leave their homes because life in the countries was not safe for them. Grover, can you imagine how difficult it would be to have to leave your home?"

"No, I cannot," sympathizes Grover. "I would never want to leave Sesame Street. I cannot imagine leaving my apartment or my pet turtle behind."

"Well, Grover, sadly, refugees have to leave everything behind," explains Blinken. "Communities, school, friends, even all of their favorite things. All kinds of people are refugees and even though they come from many different places, they're just like you and me."

"Oh, like my friends on Sesame Street," grasps Grover. "We're all different in some ways but in a lot of other ways we're the same."

The moral of the story? Grover learns that "refugees are just like us."
