Second 'X-Files' Movie In The Works

David Duchovny has confirmed a second 'X-Files' movie is definitely in the works.

Duchovny said Saturday during the Television Critics Association press tour that the film is one step closer to becoming a reality, and added that former co-star "Gillian [Anderson] is onboard."

Duchovny said that he is supposed to see the script for the movie next week, and confirmed it would be a standalone story, and not part of the larger story the series.

Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz would write the screenplay and that Carter would direct. They are aiming for a Summer 2008 release date.

Duchovny added he was looking forward to playing Fox Mulder again, "Because he's cool! It's a great show and I love playing the character."

The 'X-Files' series ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002.
