Sci Fi Channel Working On Reality Show To Find 'Best Gamer'

Sci Fi Channel has greenlighted a new reality series that will put twelve contestants against each other in a series of video game contests, in a quest to find the "best all-around gamer" in the US.

The show, tentatively titled GameQuest, will be an elimination style reality and feature some of the top video games, physical challenges that bring games to life and elimination challenges in front of a live audience.

Contestants will compete for a $100,000 prize, alongwith trips to World Cyber Game events.

Sci Fi channel president Dave Howe believes the time is right for such a show: "With two out of every three American households playing video games, it's clear that this mainstream phenomenon is a perfect arena for the channel's agenda of broadening the brand while celebrating imagination."

It's currently set to premiere in the first quarter of 2009.
