'Saturday Night Live' Writer Suspended For Controversial Barron Trump Joke

'Saturday Night Live' writer Katie Rich has been suspended indefinitely after she made a controversial joke about President Donald Trump's 10-year-old son, Barron.

This after Rich said tweeted during the inauguration ceremony that "Barron will be this country's first homeschool shooter."

The comedian deleted the tweet following the backlash and promptly deactivated her account. However, she's now been suspended by NBC.

Rich reinstated her account on Monday and issued an apologized for her joke about Trump's youngest son.

"I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions and offensive words," she wrote. "It was inexcusable & I'm so sorry."

Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former president Bill Clinton and secretary of state Hillary Clinton, was one of those who jumped to Barron's defense and said he "deserves the chance every child does-to be a kid."

In fact, Monica Lewinsky, who has made cyberbullying her cause, also chimed in.

"All children need to be protected from bullying and mockery," she said. "Let's be better than this."
