Samuel L Jackson On Real Inspiration For His 'Legend of Tarzan' Character

Samuel L Jackson talks about playing a character based on a real person named George Washington Williams.

Williams travelled to King Leopold II's Congo Free State. Shocked by what he saw, he wrote an open letter to Leopold in 1890 about the suffering of the region's inhabitants at the hands of Leopold's agents, which spurred the first public outcry against the regime running the Congo that had caused the loss of millions of black lives.

Jackson also talks about filming in a bug-free studio for the movie, without stepping foot on Africa.
