Ryan Seacrest To Host 59th Primetime Emmy Awards

'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest will be hosting next month's Emmy awards.

Chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Dick Askin, says he's hoping the 'Idol' host will be a "magnet" for viewers, especially younger ones since he appeals to a broad audience.

Last year's Emmys, hosted by NBC's Conan O'Brien, drew 16.1 million viewers, making it the second least-watched Emmy since 1991.

Although it's worth noting they aired unusually early - in August - to not coincide with NBC's NFL deal.

HBO's "The Sopranos" is the most-nominated series with 15 bids, you can take a look at the complete list here.

The 59th Primetime Emmy Awards will air September 16 on FOX.
