Roseanne Barr To Run For President As Green Party Candidate

Roseanne Barr is running for the Green Party's presidential nomination.

The actress-comedian says she has filed the necessary paperwork to run for president and, she insists, provide a real option to the American people.

"The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants bought and paid for by the 1 percent who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people," says Barr.

"I will barnstorm American living rooms. Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election."

"As a long time supporter of the Green Party," she adds, "I look forward to working with people who share my values. Behold the greening of America!"

The Green Party's presidential nominee will be selected at a convention in Baltimore in July.

"If people will merely do as I tell them to do just this one time," she says on Twitter. "I promise everything will get a lot better quickly for the majority."
