Rob Reveals He Instigated As 'Survivor' Rice Wars Turn Into Race Wars

If you've been watching 'Survivor: Redemption Island' this season, you know that Phil is crazy. Just don't tell Phillip Sheppard that.

It all started when the Ometepe crew decided to cook some rice and discovered maggots in their container. After Andrea asked Steve if they could use the former Zapatera's container to store their cleaned rice, Steve said he didn't think it was a good idea.

Since the tribes had been pretty much been living separately, despite being merged, Steve's refusal didn't seem unreasonable.

That is until Phil got into the discussion. After maybe former federal agent Phil was unable to convince Steve otherwise, Steve told Phil to leave them alone because he was crazy.

"That's what happens with some white folks," Phil said. "They like to take a black man and make him crazy when he makes an argument that you don't want to hear."

Phil then spouted out the N word more than a few times as he continued on his trade.

"Did he just bring out the race card," asked Grant. "Phillip somehow managed to make a war about white rice racial," said Rob. "I don't know where it came from."

Although the former Zapatera may be fed up with him, Phil survived last night's elimination and Julie was sent home.

But did you know that it was actually Rob that instigated Phil into the rice war? In this unaired scene from last night's episode, Rob reveals he pushed Phil's buttons to incite an argument between the two groups.

"Our rice is no good so I see it as a perfect opportunity to instigate a little friendly trouble between the two tribes," explains Rob in the scene.

"You know because we have to at least get their rice at some point. They're eating way too much. So I tell Phillip we should probably get the good rice into their container and have it all in one container."

"Well, Phillip proceeds to dump the rice out on to a blanket. Which I'm going 'what are you doing?'. So I go into the tent to tell Ashley and Natalie, they come out to see what's going on. The next thing you know, just a full on war exploded between Steve and Julie and Phillip."

"Okay, technically it's been two tribes. We haven't let them use our blankets, we haven't let them use our tarp, our pillows. Meanwhile, they're not letting use their nets so I get it."

"They don't want to let us put our rice in their container. If I was in their position, I'd be doing the same thing but I just made Phillip thing that's absolutely ridiculous."

"We're one tribe," he smirks. "We're Murlonio, Murlonio share everything. Unless you won it in a reward."

"I love Phillip. I never thought I'd say it but I do. I've come full circle."

A short clip of the argument and the tribe's reaction:
