Rapper DMX Arrested After Seatbelt Incident

American rapper DMX was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport for making verbal threats and abusing the cabin crew on an inbound flight.

Word is the 35-year-old refused to co-operate on the American Airlines flight from New York after being asked to fasten his seatbelt as it was approaching London. He was taken into custody upon arriving from New York after the plane's captain alerted police that the rap star was causing a ruckus by refusing to buckle his seat belt and then launching into a verbal tirade at flight attendants.

A spokeswoman confirmed DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was later released with a caution.

This isn't the first time the rapper has had trouble with the law. He received a 70-day sentence for a speeding incident while holding an invalid licence in December 2004 and was sentenced to seven days in prison for colliding with two cars while driving with a suspended licence again in 2005.

DMX has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and is to release his sixth solo album, Year of the Dog, this summer. He is in London to perform at a launch party on Tuesday.
