Rachel Maddow Takes Full Page Ad To Criticize Senator Scott Brown

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow has taken out a full-page ad to declare that she's not running for the US Senate in Massachusetts, as Scott Brown would have you believe.

The talk show host placed the ad in Friday's edition of 'The Boston Globe' after the newly elected Republican Senator sent out a fundraising appeal alluding to a potential challenge from Maddow.

"I'm running this ad not because I'm running against Scott Brown -- I'm not, he made that up -- but because he's the senator for all of us," Maddow says in the ad, "and maybe this will make him think twice the next time he wants to smear one of his constituents to raise money out of state."

"I'm not running against Scott Brown. I never said I was running against Scott Brown. The Massachusetts Democratic Party never asked me to run against Scott Brown. It's just not true. Honestly. I swear. No, really."

In his fund-raising e-mail, Brown said that the "liberal MSNBC anchor" was being recruited by the "political machine in Massachusetts."

"I'm sure she's a nice person -- I just don't think America can afford her liberal politics," he said.

In an interview with the 'Boston Herald', Maddow rejected suggestions that Democrats floated her as a possible Senate candidate before Brown did.

"Scott Brown made this up in order to make money off my name and likeness, and I think he should stop," she said. "Anybody who knows me knows that I have no intention of running for office ever in my whole career."
