Influential Musician Prince Dead, Found In Elevator At 57

Prince, one of the most influential musicians of modern times, is dead. He was found at his Minneapolis home on Thursday. He was 57.

The superstar was found unresponsive in an elevator and CPR by first responders failed.

It's not clear what caused his death and autopsy is planned for Friday. Most recently, the singer had postponed a concert in Atlanta earlier this month due to the flu, which he made up just last week.

"Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent," President Barack Obama said in a statement about the artist who met with him last year. " 'A strong spirit transcends rules,' Prince once said - and nobody's spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative."

Mick Jagger said: "Prince's talent was limitless. He was one of the most unique and talented artists of the last 30 years."

Oprah Winfrey had this poignant message: "Prince the doves really are crying now. Listening to your music. Remembering you."
