Obama Jokes About David Beckham's Underwear Ads In White House Visit

President Barack Obama had some fun as he welcomed David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy to the White House for a celebration of the team's third Major League Soccer Cup.

"We have a young up-and-comer on the team, a guy named David Beckham," Obama laughed.

"I have to say I gave David a hard time. I said half his teammates could be his kids."

"We're getting old, David," he said to the 37-year-old soccer star. "Although you're holding up better than me."

Obama then recounted some of Beckham's injuries last season as he concluded the midfielder was a tough guy for coming back.

"In fact, it is a rare man who can be that tough on the field and also have his own line of underwear," Obama quipped of Beckham's underwear ads for H&M. "David Beckham is that man."

Obama also joked striker Robbie Keane, who is Irish, was "a cousin of mine" since he also has roots in Ireland.
