Necklace In Lindsay Lohan Case To Be Auctioned For Charity

The $2,500 necklace that sent Lindsay Lohan (photosLindsay Lohan photos) back to court is being auctioned off for charity.

The jewelry store accusing Lohan of stealing the necklace says it will auction off the necklace after questions arose about its motives for selling surveillance video of the actress in its store.

The video, which is regarded as key evidence in the case, was reportedly sold to Entertainment Tonight for $35,000.

"The extensive media coverage of this case has been surprising, to say the least, and we are disappointed and upset by the various articles which have
challenged our integrity," says Kamofie & Co.

"We have already publicly released the videotape which speaks for itself and accurately records the incident, and we believe the next step toward achieving closure is to donate the now-famous jewelry to charity. designer Sofia Kaman would rather the money go to help an appropriate charity, since at least that way some good can result from this incident."

The company invites "the public to make suggestions as to the most appropriate charity to receive the benefit of the sale's proceeds."

Any auctions will have to be on hold until after the case is resolved as the necklace is currently being held as evidence.
