Miss America On Red Cup Criticism: 'More Important Issues In This World'

The new Miss America, Kira Kazantsev, says people should worry about more important things than her performance with a red cup during the pageant.

"There are so many more important issues in this world that people should be worried about than my plastic cup," Kazantsev said after the traditional dip in the Atlantic City surf on Monday morning.

"However, as Miss America, everything I do is scrutinized and I understand that. That's part of the job."

Kazantsev said she wouldn't apologize for performing Pharrell Williams' 'Happy' while tapping a red cup on the floor.

"I hope people understand that's just part of who I am, and I wanted to present myself that way I wanted to."

This after fans inundated the beauty on social media, calling her "talent" ridiculous and silly.

"It's unconventional; and sometimes people aren't as open to change as some would like," she said. "It's just something different and I hope people take it as a positive."
