Michael Moore's Upcoming Film To Focus On Global Economic Meltdown

Michael Moore's upcoming film, set for release this fall, will focus on the global economic meltdown.

Interestingly, the documentary will be released domestically on October 2 -- a year to the date that Congress passed the first economic stimulus package.

Overture and Paramount Vantage say the movie will examine the "root causes of the economic meltdown," as well as the "corporate and political shenanigans" that resulted in the financial crisis.

"The wealthy, at some point, decided they didn't have enough wealth," says Moore. "They wanted more -- a lot more. So they systematically set about to fleece the American people out of their hard-earned money. Now, why would they do this? That is what I seek to discover in this movie."

The announcement comes a few months after Moore posted an open letter seeking "a few brave people who work on Wall Street or in the financial industry to come forward and share with me what they know... be a hero and help me expose the biggest swindle in American history with the massive transfer of taxpayer money to private financial institutions."

Moore has made three of the top six highest-grossing documentaries of all time -- 'Fahrenheit 9/11', 'Sicko' and 'Bowling for Columbine'.
