Michael Moore's New Movie To Be Called 'Capitalism: A Love Story'

We told you a bit about Michael Moore's upcoming documentary back in May, now we have a title.

Overture Films has announced that the film, which will focus on big business and the global economic meltdown, will be called 'Capitalism: A Love Story'.

"It will be the perfect date movie," Moore jokes in a statement. "It's got it all - lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It's a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let's just say it: It's capitalism."

Moore says the film will look at "the disastrous impact that corporate dominance and out-of-control profit motives have on the lives of Americans and citizens of the world. But this time the culprit is much bigger than General Motors, and the crime scene far wider than Flint, Michigan," a reference to his 1989 documentary 'Roger & Me', which focused on General Motors job losses in his hometown.

The documentary will be released domestically on October 2, a year to the date that Congress passed the first economic stimulus package worth $700 billion.

The filmmaker has also released a very different first trailer for the flick: "Hi, I'm Michael Moore. Instead of using this time to tell you about my new movie I'd like to take a moment and ask you to join me in helping our fellow Americans."

"The downturn in the economy has hurt many people, people who have had no choice but to go on government assistance. Yet our welfare agencies can only do so much."

"That's why I'm asking you to reach into your pockets right now and lend a hand. Ushers will be coming down the aisles to collect your donations for Citibank, Bank of America, AIG, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and a host of other needy banks and corporations."

"Won't you please give generously? Now, I know what you’re thinking 'I already gave at the bailout'. And I know you did, but even if you've given in the past, give some more. It will make you feel good."
