Megyn Kelly Leaving Fox News To Host Two Shows On NBC News

Megyn Kelly is officially leaving Fox News for NBC News.

Kelly will host a daytime talk show, a Sunday night news magazine, and anchor the network's breaking news and political coverage.

Her star power grew rapidly after she became a flashpoint in the presidential campaign after Donald Trump objected to her questioning in the first Republican presidential debate.

"Over a dozen years ago I started at Fox News in a job that would change my life," Kelly said in a statement. "Now, I have decided to end my time at FNC, incredibly enriched for the experiences I've had."

"I have agreed to join NBC News, where I will be launching a new daytime show Monday through Friday, along with a Sunday evening news magazine program. I will also participate in NBC's breaking news coverage and its political and special events coverage."

"While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge. I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters."

On her show Tuesday night, Kelly said more time with her young children was a primary factor in her decision. Her Fox show airs live at 9 PM, which meant she usually wasn't home with her children in the evenings.

Her NBC contract hasn't been disclosed. However, Fox News had previously offered her more than $20 million per year to extend her contract.

Megyn Kelly's last day at Fox News will be Friday, January 6. NBC News has yet to announce her start date.
