Matthew Broderick To Star In New NBC Comedy 'Beach Lane'

NBC has convinced Matthew Broderick to make the move to television.

The film and stage actor, who has been courted by TV networks for years, has finally agreed to star in comedy 'Beach Lane'.

The comedy, from Lorne Michaels' and writer Paul Simms (best known for 'NewsRadio'), will star Broderick as a celebrity author hired by an irresponsible millionaire heir to run his struggling newspaper in the Hamptons.

Despite Lorne Michaels' attachment to the project, Broderick would not agree to signing on until he read the final script.

The network has green lighted the project, which means the work on a pilot can now begin. However, considering Broderick's involvement, this one should have no trouble receiving a follow-up order soon after the pilot episode.
