Matt Lauer Signs New Multi-Year Deal With 'Today'
Lauer joked on 'Today' Friday that viewers will now be able to "see the host lose a little bit more of his hair." He then added that "this is my family, this is my show... let's keep going." NBC says the 54-year-old morning show host, who has co-anchored since 1997, has signed a new multi-year contract as co-anchor. "Matt is the franchise, and our franchise player has decided to keep leading our team," says Steve Capus, President of NBC News. "We're just thrilled to have his considerable skills for many more years." It's been reported that Lauer's new contract will pay him between $25 to $30 million a year. However, Capus maintains that number is "complete silliness." Matt Lauer may have joked with Ryan Seacrest earlier this week that he was worried about being replaced by the 'American Idol' host, but he's not going anywhere.
