Marvel's 'The Punisher' Rewarded With Its Own Series

'The Punisher' is getting its his own TV series.

After being introduced and playing a major role on the second season of Marvel's 'Daredevil', the vigilante character is getting his own series.

Jon Bernthal, who received high praise for his portrayal of the troubled yet determined hero, will reprise his role as vengeful military veteran Frank Castle.

Although Bernthal stole the show on 'Daredevil', he admitted filming the series was a gruelling task since he had to stay in character to play the dark Punisher.

"I have to stay in it pretty fully. I know it sounds so pretentious," he said last month. "It's a lot of isolation and not having too much fun."

"He lives in a world of darkness so I think my job is to kind of embrace that. It's terrible. It's not fun."

A spin-off had been rumored for some time. However, Marvel has finally given the project the go ahead in partnership with Netflix. It already works with the streaming service on 'Daredevil', 'Jessica Jones', 'Luke Cage', 'Iron Fist' and 'The Defenders'.
