Mariah Carey Gets Second Chance on Dick Clark's New Year's Eve
The 47-year-old singer fell to pieces on the live broadcast of the New Year's Eve show last year. Carey experienced what some called a musical meltdown in front of a live audience of millions and walked off stage after a technical snafu made it clear she was lip-syncing to some of her biggest songs onstage. She blamed a sound check before her performance when she couldn't belt out the 1991 song that earned her a Grammy Award for best female pop vocal. "It is what it is," she said. "It just don't get any better." She later claimed producers of the broadcast sabotaged her performance for higher ratings. "We can all agree that last year didn't go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018," Dick Clark Productions said in a statement.
