Lorde Scraps Israel Concert Amid Calls For Boycott

Lorde has cancelled a scheduled performance in Israel for next summer after calls from pro-Palestinian to boycott the concert.

The singer calls scrapping the June 2018 Tel Aviv concert the "right decision at this time."

The move comes after calls by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions group to cancel her performance over Israel's treatment of Palestinian's.

Lorde says after "lots of discussions... I'm not too proud to admit I didn't make the right call on this one," referring to her initial decision to hold the concert.

The Palestinian group thanked her for "heeding appeals from your fans against Israel's art-washing of its brutal oppression of Palestinians."

Israeli Culture Minister Miri Regev also weighed in and said he hoped Lorde would have a chance of heart.

"Lorde, I expect you to be a pure heroine, like the title of your first album, a pure culture hero," he said in a statement, "free of any external - and if I may add, delusional - political considerations."
