Lifetime Releases First Trailer For Its Whitney Houston's Movie

Lifetime has released the first trailer for its Whitney Houston biopic, 'Whitney'.

Angela Bassett directs the film that aims to chronicles the late singer's ups and downs, from her chart success to tumultuous marriage with Bobby Brown.

Yaya DaCosta stars as Houston and Arlen Escarpeta as Brown.

The singer's mother, Cissy, has objected the film on grounds that it unfairly depicts their relationship and her life.

"Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family's objections," she said. "No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby. Please, please let her rest."

'Whitney' will airs on the network on January 17, 2015.
